BRATISLAVA, SLOVAKIA - MAY 11: Jaromir Jagr of Czech Republic looks happy after the IIHF World Championship quarter final match between Czech Republic and USA at Orange Arena on May 11, 2011 in Bratislava, Slovakia. (Photo by Martin Rose/Bongarts/Getty Images)
According to several reliable sources on Twitter, Jaromir Jagr has signed a deal with the Flyers. Here's also a Globe and Mail story confirming it. One year, $3.3 million.
I can't imagine all that many Flyers fans being entirely happy about this. I asked Travis from Broad Street Hockey's what he thought:
"It's a whole lot of money, but the fact that he's coming here and not to Pittsburgh after everything you guys went through this week is worth about 1.5 million in laughs."
If he's going to flop completely, might as well watch him do it with the Flyers.
As for Pens fans who wanted him on board, could there be any bigger slap to the face?
This first game at Consol between the Pens and Flyers is going to be insane. If you thought the fans booed him before you'll never hear anything like this.
More to come. I guess.
