Seems like Sully can’t wait to play with Asham. ;)

Is it October yet?

October is way too far away…

I couldn’t agree more. This is the longest off-season EVER.

A guy like Sullivan, you know he means every word and isn’t just trying to say the right things to impress.

He has a big heart.

He’s got some pretty good years on his resume. If it’s his best ever, the Pens will see well more than a mere return on the $1.5M investment. I’m starting to wonder whether Shero knows something we don’t about Sullivan. It probably has something to do with their time together in Nashville.

Sullivan’s an interesting case study, being as his career year came BEFORE the lockout. Considering the more trap-friendly style and Sullivan’s lack of size, that seems to be contradictory. But his career year was was 34 goals, 41 assists for 75 points in 81 games for Chicago in 2000-01. (Probably worth pointing out that SS put up 128 points in 126 games the first two years after the lockout, before the big injuries).

If Sullivan can stay healthy enough to play most the year, if he plays first line PP, and if finds chemistry with Crosby and/or Malkin, he ought to have a good year. That’s a lot of “if’s” though, and hope isn’t a plan.

I definitely want SS thinking and talking about a career year, but at this point is he really going be beat 34g 41a? No way. But, Sully definitely could be a great addition for the Pens without hitting those numbers. 20 goals and 50 points would make him about as productive as a winger as Crosby’s had lately, and that seems reasonable, given health holds up.

Agreed that Sully will not have a career year stats-wise. But maybe he will have a career-year Stanley Cup-wise!

And I love that he thinks he will have a career year!

I always wondered if anyone got that reference. I may have to revise my signature line, given what occured after #jagrwatch.

I can’t wait for this season to start so I can start posting pictures of Sully from Monsters. Inc.

I think he’s going to be big for us this year.

To be fair, he did say it could be his best year, not his career year. It could have been said meaning that the experience alone would be his best and most rewarding year of his career. Goals and assists aside, providing veteran leadership to a young team could be one of these best things he would have done in his career.

Point is, while I think he is definitely going to help the team, I’m not taking his words as meaning he is going to light the lamp every game and be the catalyst a line needs.

Would winning the cup count as his best year?

by Skyff on Jul 25, 2011 3:54 PM EDT up reply actions

By that count, I’ve had 3 best years.

HEY, SKYFF, I DON'T KNOW ABOUT SULLY...

But it would count among the best I have had!!!
