Black & Gold Game II
The Penguins will be playing hockey tonight in Wilkes-Barre, Pa, at the home of the AHL's Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins. I will be in attendance at tonight's intrasquad scrimmage with updates on Twitter and occasional comments here. With training camp underway, this is another chance for some guys on the bubble to impress upon the coaching staff.
A look at the rosters and line combinations after the jump.
Team BlackForwards: Chris Kunitz - Jordan Staal - Jason Williams, Matt Cooke - Richard Park - Tyler Kennedy, Eric Tangradi - Bryan Lerg - Nick Johnson, Steve MacIntyre - Ryan Craig - Paul Thompson
Defensemen: Deryk Engelland, Scott Harrington, Zbynek Michalek, Matt Niskanen, Carl Sneep, Brian Strait
Goalies: Marc-Andre Fleury and Brad Thiessen
Team Gold
Forwards: James Neal - Evgeni Malkin - Steve Sullivan, Pascal Dupuis - Mark Letestu - Colin McDonald, Brian Gibbons - Zach Sill - Keven Veilleux, Tom Kuhnhackl - Joe Vitale - Geoff Walker
Defensemen: Simon Despres, Kris Letang, Ben Lovejoy, Paul Martin, Joe Morrow, Alexandre Picard, Philip Samuelsson
Goalies: Brent Johnson and Scott Munroe
NON-GAME GROUP:
Arron Asham, Craig Adams, Sidney Crosby, Brandon DeFazio, Alex Grant, Patrick Killeen, Joey Mormina, Brooks Orpik, Dominik Uher
You can also add Robert Bortuzzo and Dustin Jeffrey to the list of guys who won't be playing tonight. It should come as no surprise that Crosby isn't playing in the much anticipated event.
But either way, there will be some Penguins hockey being played tonight and as always, we will have full coverage of what should be a sold out event.

Interesting to see Kennedy - Malkin - Sullivan get split up.
Of course pre-season games are really meaningless for roster players, especiallly intrasquad games. They had one good game and one average game from what I’ve read. Maybe Bylsma is looking to give Neal a chance, there.

First period insights
Malkin, Staal, Kennedy, Despres, Letestu all looking real good. Wasn’t impressed with some of the defensemen but this doesn’t figure to be much of a defensive game. Liked what I saw from Williams and Park in the first 20 minutes too. Any questions on a specific player, let me know. Gold leads 2-1 after 20 minutes

Qs about specific players
How good is Letang at shooting inside the frames of the goal and how is M.Niskanen looking compared to last season, is there a significant improvement?
Letang looked okay, and Niskanen seems like he’s improving but had a few turnovers tonight.
