As an aside, it looks like the Pens plan on getting a bit more of a look at Morrow before sending him back to junior also. We’ll probably see him in at least one or two more games, I’d guess.

Me too, but I’m not surprised. Realistically, he wasn’t making the team this year with 7 on one-way contracts and Picard at the door with solid NHL experience, as well. Better to have him settle in WB before the season begins. Like wg1of5, I think they’ll hold on to Morrow and, possibly, Harrington for a little while to make sure they have a good grasp of the system before they send them back. Both are returning to teams and cities they’ve already lived in so they can afford to see what the NHL is about. It’ll be interesting to see how the rest of the cuts go. I imagine we’ll see some more tomorrow.
These moves are all predictably smart. Sneep and Despres were almost invisible this year. Had to know Simon and Philip were going to WBS. I am very happy for that actually, because that will get them moving in the right direction, hopefully this cut lights a fire under Despres’ butt because he really had a sub-par camp IMO and he was one of the guys I thought for sure would stand out.
Also, a lot of people are saying the Pens pick from last year, Morrow, is now the Pens #1 prospect, those people I thought were crazy months ago when they said this, now I see they may have a point.
Good, fun camp so far. Will be interesting to see our lineups beginning of the season…I could be wrong but not sure if Brooks will be ready to go, so we might see one of these remaining d-men stick around, you never know though, and here’s to Orpik being healthy.
