MIN claims Nick Johnson from PIT on waivers.
Makes sense, Chuck Fletcher knows Pittsburgh well, Mike Yeo is now the Minnesota Wild head coach and he has a lot of knowledge about Johnson.
Really, it's a good thing for Johnson. He's played in Pittsburgh's organization for parts of four years and has only gotten 10 NHL games. Now he'll get a chance to play for Minnesota, on a team that can use big forwards.
If it works out, good for him. If his shot doesn't, he'll go back on waivers and Pittsburgh can claim him again and throw him immediately in Wilkes-Barre if they so choose (kind of like what Washington did with Chris Bourque two years ago). So good for Johnson to get his chance. Now we'll see if he can make it pay off.
