My thoughts exactly!
Was disappointed when we let Nick Johnson go and kept Big Mac. He’s a good guy, but really, with Engo and Asham in the lineup, he’s kinda redundant.

If I were MacIntyre I think I would be a little irritated by all of this. I’m on board with giving his roster spot to someone who will actually be used, but the real question was why was he (a) here at all, and (b) kept on the roster/put in games without being used. I realize he was injured for a bit, but seriously: he played in a grand total of 10 games, with his high for ice time coming on October 22nd, where he logged 8 shifts over 5:22. Six of his games came with fewer than 3 minutes of playing time.
Really. What was the point?
Jagr? I don't even know 'er.
I could reply to either you or GoPenguins, but you were first, so you get the reply. GMs are still coming to terms with the simple fact that they can’t spend roster spots and cap space on forwards who score 0.05 points per game (seriously, that’s his career number, 4 points in 88 games), no matter what, end of story. I had hope that Shero already knew that when he allowed Eric Godard to walk, but I guess he needed one more object lesson before he came to grips with the economics of the situation.
FWIW, Godard has 31 PIM and 1 point in 21 games for the Texas Stars, Dallas’s AHL affiliate. So, he’s still picking up a paycheck, but he’s not currently impacting an NHL team’s salary cap.
Yeah, I get all that and I mostly agree. But it still all seems like a really weird miss-step by Shero. And the especially strange thing is that Bylsma’s “use” of MacIntyre made it pretty clear that he wasn’t on board with MacIntyre being in the lineup at all, which makes it just seem strange that he stuck around as long as he did.
And I really wish we hadn’t lost Nick Johnson.

I feel bad for him though… he knew his role and never complained, but wasn’t in the line-up for any games vs. the Flyers or Bruins or teams like that. He was brought in to protect the stars but wasn’t given a chance to. I realize there isn’t much room in the league for that type of player, but then why was he signed? But anyway, is what it is.
