you are kidding me right??? we aren’t a even a playoff team right now so many gaffs on D it’s sad

by edro on Jan 6, 2012 8:10 PM EST up reply actions

Meh. They’ve had a coupld of pretty bad games, but they’ve also got some good things going, imo. If the playoffs started today they’d be in trouble, I think, but I also think they’re on track to pull themselves upward.

Jagr? I don't even know 'er.

by PopRocks on Jan 6, 2012 8:12 PM EST up reply actions

we will see but if we can’t beat a team that’s actually good, we are in deep trouble

by edro on Jan 6, 2012 8:13 PM EST up reply actions

we need Tanger back

and a possible trade for a center or winger (like always)

Thats what she said! - Michael Gary Scott

by C Shint on Jan 6, 2012 8:14 PM EST up reply actions

I’m not so worried about wing. If Sid doesn’t come back then yes, we need a center. And if Letang doesn’t come back we definitely need another top-four defenseman. Assuming Letang does come back, I’d be happy to get another defenseman, but not so worried about it being a top-four guy.

Jagr? I don't even know 'er.

by PopRocks on Jan 6, 2012 8:17 PM EST up reply actions

If

Letang is back and healthy, we have 7 solid NHL D men with Despres, Picard, Burtozzo behind that, so I agree were good there if we get Letang back

Thats what she said! - Michael Gary Scott

by C Shint on Jan 6, 2012 8:18 PM EST up reply actions

I’d prefer to keep Despres and Picard out of our playoff lineup, personally.

Jagr? I don't even know 'er.

by PopRocks on Jan 6, 2012 8:20 PM EST up reply actions

Picard I thought has done an admirable job with his time up.

But we need to put all this together while moving at high speeds on a cold and slippery surface while 5 other guys use clubs to try and kill us, oh yeah did I mention that this whole time we're standing on blades 1/8 of an inch thick? 2-3 years ago

this team had the potential to win multiple cups, now were lucky to have 2 of our big 3 centers on the ice

You guys might have a different view but I think Staal shied away from the hit and then that initiated the knee on knee

Is hockey hard? "I don't know, you tell me. We need to have the strength and power of a football player, the stamina of a marathon runner, and the concentration of a brain surgeon. But we need to put all this together while moving at high speeds on a cold and slippery surface while 5 other guys use clubs to try and kill us, oh yeah did I mention that this whole time we're standing on blades 1/8 of an inch thick? Is ice hockey hard? I don't know, you tell me. Next question."

i dont even care about the hit, it really wasnt dirty. The point is now Staal is out, we cant get healthy, its amazing how injury prone this team is

Good game boys.

It’s almost unfair having Lundqvist sometimes. This was one of his “i’ll win this one myself” kind of games.

This game is Exhibit A...

… of why Lundqvist is a top-5 all-world goaltender.

And how effective dropping 5 men below the hashmarks to block shots is. It’s not exciting, and it leads to a ton of 2-0 and 3-1 games, but it works. Torts is no idiot, and he’s playing it to a “T.”

Yeah, there were some questionable no-calls, but nothing egregious other than the stick to Park’s eye which was tough for the stripes to see.

I won’t hang this one on the officials at all.

Question:

Is the girl who got hurt with the puck a member of the Staal family? I’m just saying that I wouldn’t be surprised at this point.

Frustrating when you can’t beat a good goaltender. Sometimes they steal it, and tonight, that—coupled with a short-handed goal at the worst time—is what did it.

Here’s hoping the Staal injury isn’t bad enough to keep him out next Weds. when they play here in D.C. I can’t stand watching Caps fans act as though that team’s better than the Pens when Pittsburgh’s down to one of their top 3 centers.

was about to say something similar

if Staal is not out long term, Letang is back at practice and Martin, big Z, Orpik are out there so were slowly getting healthy.

We just need to get to April and have everyone come to together then. I hope.
