Also…does anybody know how Thiessen does in the shootout? Or will we pull a NYI and bring in MAF if it comes to that?
It's one thing to prioritize covering the defensive slot...
…but Columbus is focusing on it to exclusion right now. The Pens are pretty much doing whatever they like below the goal line and above the hashmarks in the offensive zone. Not having watched much of Columbus this year, I wonder if this is a style they play consistently (and if it is, I’d have to assume it’s contributed to their poor record this year).

I think it’s a response to their poor goal tending over the season- especially when they have Mason in goal. Today though, with Sanford in goal, it could have something to do with the shellacking that TB received…they’re not taking chances with Malkin & co.
Matt Cooke has really changed the way he approaches things this year…
