It’s not just Martin.. Michalek has been pretty brutal as well. They are teaming up for a lot of bad bad defense

Most times I see him make great reads, nice passes out of his end and play well in the corners. Every d-man gets beaten sometimes, his play does not stand out as bad to me. Niskanen looks worse than him to me most nights.

I guess I am just not as down on him as you guys. He plays well most of the time in my opinion. I see him make good decisions at least as often as Orpik (who consistently takes stupid penalties, isn’t as strong a skater and throws the puck away alot).
