The NHL has announced Evgeni Malkin will not be suspended for this hit. On one hand, it's a hit from behind....On the other, it seems clear Malkin was targeting the shoulder (not the back) and Boychuk spun into danger. It's a gray area in the sea of the gray area known as NHL discipline. But, the good news for the Penguins is that Malkin won't be punished any more than the two minute penalty he was whistled for on the play.
