There is an article on Broad Street Hockey listing reasons why Flyers fans should be worried as well as reasons why they should be confident. Most of the reasons to maintain confidence cites history as a reliever. The fact that only three NHL teams have come back from 0-3 deficits to win the series keeps emerging. Well, as we say in finance:
"Past results are no guarantee of future returns."
Just because series' in the past have played out differently, it does not mean anyone should be saying, "It's just one loss. We're pretty much guaranteed to win this thing."
If any team in the history of hockey can come back from a three game deficit it is this Penguins team. In finance, market shifts occur due to investor mentality- a trend can immediately reverse in response to some economic indicator. Are sports that different? No! A series can shift at any point in response to some momentous event. What we saw last night was exactly that- a momentous shift. The downward trend just may have reversed... If the PENS were a publicly traded organization, I would be buying this undervalued team for the incredible potential for strong dividend yield (the joy you feel from watching us beat the Flyers) and consistent growth (winning more games in this series).
Let's Go Pens!
