Dear Ray Shero

I know that many fans write these sort of things and that many fans are sick of reading such writings but I need to get something off of my chest that has been bothering me.

Dear Ray Shero,

I would like to start off by saying that I have been a fan of this great organization since I was a toddler back in the 80's when you couldn't even get good reception in my BFE little town north of Pittsburgh; always having to adjust the rabbit ears when the clouds moved in order to see Paul Coffey feed Lemieux in the neutral zone to beat two defensemen on his way to another glorious goal.

I started loving the game in about 1987 and being a resident of Butler PA growing up I, naturally, gravitated toward my beloved black and gold. I have always been proud to be a fan of the Penguins, and even in the lean days after Jagr "died on his feet" and left us for DC I was in the stands among the 5000 other loyalists watching another season slip away.

I am asking (nay begging) you to take a look at what this organization is becoming. I as a fan need you to reevaluate your recent roster and coaching decisions and think. Are these decisions (which have led to 3 years of poor playoff performances) the right ones?

Specifically I would like you to address your decisions regarding Tyler Kennedy, Paul Martin, Max Talbot, Mike Rupp and beloved Coach Disco.

If the team makes another early departure from the spring tournament that is The Stanley Cup Playoffs will you consider that Dan Bylsma isn't the man for the job? Surely you already have considered that Paul Martin isn't cut out for the system that the organization has in place. Do you actually think that Tyler Kennedy is worth 2 million dollars a year while you allowed Max Talbot to defect to the Philth for less? How is Richard Park greater than Mike Rupp?

I understand that at the time the decisions were made Max Talbot and Mike Rupp were just ending less than stellar campaigns and that TK had 21 goals and was showing great promise but even a college student can spot standard deviations.

I just hope that when it comes time to shore up a deal with Jordan Staal you make the right decision and when Letang's contract is up in '14 you don't screw the pooch on that one. Just a little heads up. If Tanger has another year like last year he will want Shae Weber money. Give it to him. If Staalsy asks for 6 million a year let him walk. We love him but it is not something you can afford moving forward lest you want to saddle the team with stellar wingers like TK and Steve Sullivan for eternity.

I mean did you really think TK > than Max Talbot?

Sincerely ,

Pensfan1982 (fan for life)
