I haven't thought this through entirely, but I figure the diverse crowd of thinkers and hockey minds here would have no problem adding their two cents.
The Flyers have their massive offer sheet in for Weber (which rumor has it, the Preds will not match). Rumor also has it they are far apart in their negotiations with Jakub Voracek (he is reportedly asking for $4mil per season). Personally, I like Voracek a lot. I think he is a highly skilled big forward and a solid top-6 guy who would look pretty darn good playing with Malkin/Crosby. Why not go after him with an offer sheet? Put the Flyers in a position where if they match, they are in bigger cap trouble than they already are with the Weber signing. If they don't match, the Pens get the top-6 forward they need (and perhaps a teeny tiny bit of retribution for the Flyers swiping Jagr and Talbot).
Granted the rumors of the Preds not matching the offer sheet and the rumors of the Voracek negotiations are from Twitter "sources" who may or may not be completely making things up for fun... so perhaps this should be a hypothetical discussion. But, I'm interested to hear what people think of the possibility of the Pens putting in an OS for Voracek.
