Plans C thru K (approximately) - Defensemen

Rumblings have begun about the Penguins'/Shero's failure to improve the team through free agency or trade this summer, ever since the Wild signed Parise and Suter. Granted that these were the marquee free agents, and granted that Minnesota should be making a significant leap forward by nabbing them both, if you look through the list of other available free agents, there are some options that could improve the Penguins. I mainly want to list them, for my own edification, but if there are a couple I have a comment about, I'll add that, too.

Anyway, what are anyone else's thoughts on these potential free agent pick-ups?

First, the defensemen of interest, with most recent team. I'm really only looking at UFAs.

Scott Hannan (CGY). He's been a steady defensemen, especially back with the Sharks. I was surprised he's already 33.

Colin White (SJS). Had an off year with the Sharks. Or maybe, like Paul Martin, he needed the New Jersey structure to cover up his weaknesses? He's 34.

Kurtis Foster (MIN).

Kurt Sauer (PHX).

Kent Huskins (STL). I think I'm mainly kidding about this one.

Michal Rozsival (PHX). I'm actually not kidding about this one. After leaving the Pens, Rozsival has become a reliable player. He's had a couple very nice years in the desert.

P.K. Subban (MTL). Ha-ha-ha-ha! Of course I'm kidding.

Steve Eminger (NYR). Maybe he'd be a depth guy, and I'm always suspicious of players that are bounced around a lot, but worth a look?

Pavel Kubina (PHI). I think he's got a couple years left, and he's still pretty good.

Slim pickins' among the Eastern Conference. I suppose Shero could toss out an offer sheet to an RFA like John Carlson or such. (Subban's an RFA too.) That could make life interesting.

Personally, among these, I like Hannan, Sauer, or Kubina. Kubina and Rozie are both right-hand shots. Just sayin'
