Saw a little gem on Yahoo news that I wanted to get your guys's opinion on. Supposedly, Weber is being shopped by Nashville. The loss of his partner in crime really dropped a blow on Shea's belief that the Preds can compete long term. They can't take him to arbitration again this year since they already did that last year, so it's either sign a long term deal, or go to the offer sheets. Right now he's making 7.5 mill, and I'd be shocked if he accepted anything less than that. The compensation for such an offer sheet would be 2 first round picks, a second and a third. My question is simple: If Weber were to accept a an offer sheet with us (assuming Nashville doesn't match), would it be worth it to lock him up for 7.5 a year AND give up almost an entire draft? My personal opinion is that yes, we should. Our top four would be rock solid. Having a guy like Niskanen as a 5th defender is just an embarrassment of riches. Your thoughts?
