Is HCDB "showing" a functional defenseman available for trade by playing Engelland? Does he realize how much lack of confidence he has in Bortuzzo when he sits him for stretches so much? I clearly understand the fright factor to play him against bullies but really are you saying the same in reverse? Is Engelland instilling confidence?
Its been long enough of a case of prejudice or favoritism for or against certain players. You do get paid to do a job. To put the best team members on the ice for a given game and to win is what keeps the bank deposits coming in. We have seen multiple cases of both/either in Engelland and Jeffery and Bortuzzo now including D'Agostini. There may be hidden injuries of course, never to be revealed. Or is it a open house showing for a trade?
Here's hoping it's a tryout to trade off someone not included so far...Orpik or Martin. Given the depth in the system both are past their earnings. Can the team win if one is traded? Yes of course but not until Scuderi returns. Sooner too just to hold the fort until his return to action. He is a shut down defenseman after all. A top four as Niskanen can be too if given the opportunity.
That word is very relevant, opportunity. Something HCDB has been reluctant to grant to some. However Engelland has had too many granted in my opinion. He , though capable, is not the best player option for winning. Engelland too can hold the fort well, Bortuzzo even better. D'Agostini needs a chance to play more with this team. His showing on other teams is just that but he is a bottom 6 guy, role player. Give him a slot there or is he already the next Jeffrey?
While on the subject the last two rookies Megna and Gibbons have shown both the speed and touch to play, dare I say it, alongside Crosby. They are too fast for Bennett to set up, so maybe just maybe a combo with the best vision and skill set on the team will net results. I can easily envision both alongside Crosby. Fastest line in the game. Of course I don't get the bank deposit for that input but what can the future hold if we keep these speedsters in the years to come. Just sayin....
