GIF of the day: Chris Kunitz Breakaway goal

Gregory Shamus

We take a GIF of Chris Kunitz's breakaway goal last night to cap off the Penguins 2013 preseason with an exclamation point. Pittsburgh's top line scored 6 points last night and look ready for the real season to begin.

In the final tune-up exhibition game for the Pittsburgh Penguins before the start of the 2013-14 regular season, the boys rolled out a close to opening night lineup and fairly dominanted the mostly younger lineup that the Detroit Red Wings chose to play.

But hey, you can only beat who they put out against you, and maybe Chris Kunitz was chanelling his inner Kris Letang from yesterday's GIF of the Day when he took an opponent's pass and turned offense to defense.

Pensburgh recap: Pens 5 Detroit 1

Kunitz had scored a goal either and had another assist, Pascal Dupuis scored a goal and Sidney Crosby had two assist on the night so yep, I'd say the big line is about ready to go. As Kunitz told NHL.com

"We didn't have a great preseason leading up to this one," Kunitz said. "I think we played a little harder, we watched clips, we talked about what we need to do. Maybe just play better in our zone and come with our speed. It's something that we did on the first goal, [I] got the puck out and Sid made a great play picking it up on the wall and making that play to [Dupuis] and putting it in. so that kind of just led us off to have a good game tonight."
