Breaking down the Chimera goal vs. the Capitals

First thing I'd like to say is that this is a great play by the Capitals. Quick Tic-Tac-Toe passing on the what would be the Penguins normal 4th line (the exception is #40 Drazenovic). Here is the link to the entire clip from NHL.com

The entire sequence takes place from the 0:00 mark to about the 0:08 second mark of the clip.

The play starts with Joel Ward deep in the Pens zone, skating with the puck around behind the back of the cage and MAF (to his left). He skates behind the goal and up to the right circle in front of MAF and passes it to the point to Orlov. Maatta first had him down low, but as soon as he went behind the net he was passed to Nisky. When Maata lets Nisky take Ward, he then takes on Chimera in front of the goal crease. It is going OK so far in my opinion. Nisky starts chasing Ward up to the top of the circle. That is fine for the most part. During this entire time, #40 is basically covering nobody. He roams near MoJo (#90 Caps) at first, then glides down towards the crease while Maatta is on Chimera. This leaves MoJo open on the left circle uncovered. After Ward passes the puck to the point to Orlov, Orlov immediately passes it to MoJo (who is now uncovered as mentioned earlier). #40 lets the pass go right through the heart of the D there, not taking a zone or man. Maataa then, not wanting him to have a wide open net or path to the very front of the net, goes over to try and block the shot/pass and cover the open man. This actually shows quick awareness by Maatta. Meanwhile, #40 continues to not take a man or even a zone. This is understandable because he is a call up, this stuff happens sometimes and is inevitable, no big deal. MoJo gets the pass through Maatta to Chimera who is uncovered in front of the net for the goal. All Chimmer had to do was just tap in a beautiful feed past MAF, who didn't have a chance. I blame Nisky slightly on this but he still had a man tied up while Glass and Adams had the points semi covered. The blame on the coverage goes right to the new call up in #40. Maatta can't have 2 guys at the same time. He took the guy who had the puck, hoping somebody would come back and cover Chimmer. No one did. He forced the Capitals to make a play to score a goal. They did. It was better than letting MoJo drive to the front of the crease or possibly taking a 1 timer from a short side angle. Sorry for not posting broken down pictures but the clip was short and it should be able to be clearly seen my point after about 7 seconds. Nisky and Maatta once again had a GREAT game together and this goal really isn't on them. Unfortunately the same can't be said for the combos of 41-44 and 4-58. They had turnover problems again, zone exit problems, and a couple of blown coverages. Anyways, this is just my opinion, you would have to ask Dan if this is how he wanted the above play covered. What is your opinion.
