Burkle/Lemieux/Morehouse just fired General Manager Ray Shero but not Head Coach Dan Bylsma. This was an interesting decision. Many observers and fans believed Bylsma would go first if not only. Yet Lemieux reportedly said that Bylsma might coach the 2014-15 team. The next General Manager will make the decision regarding the person who will coach next year's team. Obviously this decision makes Bylsma's situation tenuous. It also makes the decision to keep him as a coach very ambiguous. It is ambiguous because, on the one hand, Bylsma's position is hardly secure and, on the other hand, upper management has tacitly but weakly endorsed Bylsma by not firing him along with Shero. If they had concluded that Bylsma had performed poorly, had ‘lost the room' or was a significant cause of the team's recent poor postseason record, then they would have fired him along with Shero. They did not fire him. This refusal entails a weak belief in and endorsement of Bylsma's abilities.
So, a poll:
