Pens get 75% of Sutter's worth at 1/3 of the price in Brandon Pirri, and with Jimmy Hayes they get a possible bust but also possible Power Forward, who can also be leveraged for the Pens to sign his brother Kevin Hayes in a few weeks, provided Chicago doesn't sign him, which now seems unlikely.
Why would Florida make this trade? Brandon Sutter is proven, Pirri and Hayes are not. He's also bigger than Pirri. Their cap can absorb 3.5 hit, especially after jettisoning 1.825. Pens might have to throw in an AHL Dman or draft pick.
Pens get 3 young forwards with potential, 2 of whom are big guys, at a discount price.
