1st Period:
Trevor Daley opened up the scoring for the Penguins with an absolute rocket of a shot past Cam Ward. It looked like his best Shea Weber impression.

What a cannon man.
Matt Murray also had a great period as he stopped all 13 shots he faced and this save was easily the best of the period.

The Penguins thought they scored their second goal but the goal was waved off because thet net was off dislodged.
Shots were 13-12 in the period in favor of Carolina even though the Penguins controlled most of the play.
2nd Period:
The Penguins goal fury started this period as Cameron Gaunce fired the puck to the net and Carl Hagelin poked in the rebound to make it 2-0.
Pittsburgh made it 3-0 when Conor sheary snuck a shot past Cam Ward to get his 14th goal of the year.

The goals just kept coming as Chris Kunitz poked the puck past Cam Ward 18 seconds later to make it 4-0.
Phil Kessel was able to get his 14th goal of the season to make it 5-0 after Jeff Skinner got mad on ice and decided to take an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. Evgeni Malkin's pass to Kessel was straight filthy.

Carolina got a shorthanded goal from Viktor Stalberg to make it 6-1 after Cam Ward acted like a child and put the Penguins on the powerplay by punching Patric Hornqvist.

The last goal of the night was the prettiest as Sidney Crosby delivered a beautiful pass to Conor Sheary and he rifled it past Cam Ward for his 15th goal of the year.

Some thoughts:
Conor Sheary is having an unbelievable season as he's now up to 15 goals this season and will definitely get over 20 goals by the time this season ends. He's due for a raise this offseason.
It wasn't a good night for Jeff Skinner as he got called for flopping like a fish and then was mad on ice and took an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty which led to a goal. Hopefully he learn his lesson.
Cam Ward for some reason was also mad on ice tonight as he was always punching and whacking Patric Hornqvist each time he got near his crease. That sub .800 save percentage tonight probably made him even more mad.
Jake Guentzel continues to impress on the Malkin line and he should stay there the rest of the season and into the playoffs. The line had some dominating shifts in the Carolina zone all throughout the game.
The Penguins are now 11-2-2 without Kris Letang this season which is ridiculous. They're a lot better team with him in the lineup but they still find ways to win without him in the lineup as well.
Pittsburgh's next game will be Sunday afternoon against the Boston Bruins.
