CBC has always been pretty good at the really intense, emotional game openings - so here's their broadcast of Mario Lemieux's return to the NHL.
Lemieux scored a goal and two assists in his first game back from retirement on Dec. 27, 2000. Because he's awesome, just as he always was.
Chills.
A special moment for a special player - and a special person.
We all got teary alongside him.
Congrats on a great career, Duper. It does sound like he's at peace with his situation:
I think Dupuis was the happiest guy at practice. He was in good spirits. His teammates clearly took the news hard.
— Josh Yohe (@JoshYohe_PGH) December 8, 2015Here's to a great retirement, an awesome time with his family, and to still seeing him around in the future, even if it's not on the ice. An awesome Penguin, through and through.
This is so gratuitous and I love it. Good job, boys.
There was an actual reason for this: the Penguins are on a California road trip, and have a few days off in between games. So... why not?
Still amazing.
Sidney Crosby, like most hockey players, rarely provides an interesting interview. This is especially true for intermission interviews, where it's just a slew of trying harder and getting pucks deep and playing their game.
And Crosby knows it. And, awesomely enough with this commercial, shows us more personality by making fun of it.
In typical Sid fashion, he's even willing to go beyond what's asked of him. Gotta love everything about this.
Either Nathan MacKinnon is really, really, really funny, or Sidney Crosby is just a terrible actor.
Or both. Really, it's probably both.
Aww.
This is exceptionally cute, and the brightest stars campaign looks fantastic. And of course Sid can score more than three!
So long, Toronto. Thanks for driving out the 30-goal scorer into our waiting arms.
Sidney Crosby and Nathan MacKinnon, who both hail from Nova Scotia, got summer jobs in Dartmouth.
Like any rookie with a new job, they were... not super great at it. Fortunately, the customers were very forgiving of their errors!
Be sure to go to the playlist for all of the videos - this is delightful. Sid is wonderful.
