Kris Draper eats poop for breakfast

I'll admit it's a bit amateur of a title for this site, but hey - I have proof : Source

"A week after we won it, I had my newborn daughter in there, and she pooped in the Cup," Draper said. "That was something. We had a pretty good laugh. "I still drank out of it that night, so no worries."

Pittsburgh Penguins' offseason - how do you rank it?

This offseason has so far expressed its share of goodbyes along with a few new hellos.  I stumbled across an article by CBS sports that graded the Pens' offseason moves so far.  Flattering enough, it's the best in the division.

Poll
How do you grade the offseason?

Pens of the Past - Larry Murphy

The legendary "Murph", just one of the nicknames Larry Murphy had assigned to him throughout his 21-year-career, is the subject of this week's Pens of the Past.

Pittsburgh Penguins' players under the radar

Interesting article on CBS Sports today (and yes that's CBS not CBC).  CBS staff writer Wes Goldstein analyzes some of the under-the-radar signings from teams around the league.

It shouldn't come as any surprise that four of the twelve have had or currently have an association with the Penguins.

The Luring of the Russians - Building the Red Army

Even though the NHL's salary cap is on the ride (nearly $6.5 million this year alone), the new threat is not the inability to sign a player - it's the inability to offer as much as other leagues.

Pittsburgh Penguins Ink Joey Mormina and Connor James to one-year deals

Joey Mormina is a defenseman and former Carolina Hurricanes prospect.  He played for the River Rats last season and tallied up four goals and nine assists in 77 games.

Connor James - no stranger to the Pens, re-signs with the team.  For those who may remember, his first goal came against the Islanders in February after showing up late to the game due to a call-up earlier in the day.

How much longer till the Penguins start the season?

That's what I was wondering this morning when I stumbled across LetsGoPens.com.

And then the realization hit when I saw the countdown in the upper-right corner of the screen:

86 days

Ouch.

Worst of all, it's sleepy time in the Penguins' camp.  No training, skating, signing, fighting or frankly, living.  We are now in the dead zone of the hockey season.

But you bet I'm staying on top of things regardless.  If something's up on the site, rumored around the team or going on as we speak I'll get it up here.

Your 2008-2009 Penguins - how do they look?

Let on by nothing more than a hunch and the available cap space, I presume the Penguins are done (for now) with some transactions and signings.

With that in mind - how do they look?  Consider the strong sides, the weak sides and even the overall areas that may need improvement.

Plus, everyone's favorite game: take a stab at your predicted starting lines.

Penguins' Janne Pesonen

Unless you knew of him beforehand (which, frankly none of us can say we did) news of the Penguins signing Finnish forward Janne Pesonen may not rock the lines like you'd hope it would.  Word around town is he's insanely fast, amazingly skillful and capable of playing both sides of the puck.  But if you're still not convinced, there's probably one thing that will sway you for sure.

Right - evidence.

So, let's take a look at some of his videos and decide ourselves how big an impact this guy is going to have on the Penguins.

Pens of the Past - Kevin Stevens

Before Boston College became known as one of the United States' premium hockey schools, guys like Kevin Stevens were doing their part to get it there.  Drafted by the Kings and later traded over to Pittsburgh for his NHL debut, Stevens could score a goal just as easily as he could drop the mitts in a heavyweight fight.
