Pittsburgh Penguins' coach Michel Therrien discusses camp
Mark your calendars: camp opens on September 16. No one could be more excited about it than the Penguins' own head coach Michel Therrien.

Ryan Whitney highlighted on Pittsburgh Penguins' home page
There's a post-surgery story up on the Penguins' web site about Ryan Whitney and his foot surgery. Unfortunately it doesn't say anything hopeful like "Whitney recovered completely within the span of 10 seconds", but it does at least conclude that the surgery is complete.

The Hockey News ranks Sidney Crosby at top of charts
In the fantasy expert edition of The Hockey News, the general understanding (and apparent acceptance) is that Sidney Crosby will top the charts for scorers by the end of this season. Last year's prediction was somewhere in the 126 point range, but this year's is definitely a more reasonable prediction.
According to THN, Sid will top the scoring title with 113 points, eight ahead of second place finisher Alexander Ovechkin. In terms of hardware, Sid will take home the Art Ross and Hart Trophy. But it's the Conn Smythe that may raise a few eyebrows.

Pens of the Past - Darius Kasparaitis
You'd be hard pressed to find Darius Kasparaitis at the top of any kind of NHL scoring list. Scoring was just his forte - except for one goal in which we'll get to later.
But if you wanted to find Kasparaitis anywhere you'd more often than not have the best chance of doing so by following the sounds of boos, cheers, curses, broken bones and injured players on the ice. If even that fails, look towards the penalty box.

National TV games announced for Pittsburgh Penguins
Six games are set for national broadcast this season. Frankly I think they're all going to be really good games for ratings.
The NBC game is January 18th against the Rangers at 12:30.
As for Versus:
| Tuesday, | Oct. 14 | PHILADELPHIA | 7:30 p.m. |
| Tuesday, | Nov. 11 | at Detroit | 7:00 p.m. |
| Tuesday, | Nov. 18 | MINNESOTA | 7:00 p.m. |
| Monday, | Dec. 22 | at Buffalo | 7:00 p.m. |
| Monday, | Jan. 5 | at NY Rangers | 7:00 p.m. |
The Detroit game on November 11 should be a huge draw for obvious reasons. Two huge hockey cities, not to mention fans wanting to watch a Stanley Cup series rematch, will convene on VS for that one.
Will the Minnesota game draw a lot of people in? I know the Wild have a huge fan base.
I think the TV schedule looks pretty solid.

Kansas City hates Mario Lemieux (and he seems OK with that)

In an obvious display of adolescent pouting, silenced only momentarily for diaper changes between sobs, the Kansas City media has openly admitted that they feel used, abused and dissed by the Pittsburgh Penguins' Mario Lemieux.
Apparently they actually thought they were getting a hockey franchise. Lemieux laid the smack down hard on this one.

Mario Lemieux statue to go up at new Pittsburgh Penguins arena
The details on this one are still scant, but upon reading the slightest hint of a Mario Lemieux statue greeting visitors outside the new arena in 2010, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't immediately psyched for it.

Pittsburgh Penguins break ground on new arena
With shovels in hand, Mario Lemieux as his management staff initiated the first official dig on the site of the upcoming arena slated for Fall 2010. The Penguins put up some really solid pics on their site of what the new house will look like, along with some video and commentary from Lemieux and Co.
Also, if you haven't done so already, vote for your favorite jersey. Thanks to Dunman for the contribution.

Gary Roberts featured on Tampa Bay Lightning page
The guy was a beast for the Penguins and garnished a cult-like status in Pittsburgh. Say what you will about his age (42) or his busted up body, but Ryan Malone and Adam Hall have it easy this year; they get to play with him.

Funniest goal celebrations
The Pens Blog posted this up the other day and I thought it would be a fitting contribution to Pensburgh, especially when you consider the recent collection of Top 10 videos on the front page.
Top 10 funniest goal celebrations:
Unlike most countdowns, I think #1 is by far the best...
Alexei Kovalev moonwalks at #5 (I remember that one vividly)
Maybe it's a Euro thing, but former Penguin Ziggy Palfy kisses some dude at #4...don't ask, don't tell.
