Tale of the Tape

There's no doubt that fighting is one of the most well-known parts of this great sport.  Fans are always eager for the one play, the one hit that makes two players drop their gloves and go at it.  The Penguins have their fair share of brawls, and I'll be taking a look at them as the season goes on.

To start, let's look back at what happened this season.  Thanks to the wonderful site hockeyfights.com, it's not only easy to get a fight list, but also a win/loss record for each person.  Here's what's gone down so far (the win/loss record is formed by the votes on that site - I feel it is less biased than me personally picking a winner for each one):

Georges Laraque, 7 fights (5-0-2)
Ryan Malone, 6 fights (3-3-0)
Colby Armstrong, 2 fights (0-2-0)
Gary Roberts, 2 fights (2-0-0)
Jarkko Ruutu, 2 fights (2-0-0)
Sidney Crosby, 1 fight (1-0-0)
Adam Hall, 1 fight (0-1-0)
Brooks Orpick, 1 fight (0-0-1)
Jordan Staal, 1 fight (0-0-1)
Darryl Sydor, 1 fight (0-1-0)
Ryan Whitney, 1 fight (0-1-0)

07-08 Penguins, 25 fights (13-8-4)

So that's a winning record thus far.  Tonight's game is the first meeting of the Pens and the Tampa Bay Lightning this season.  If they draw the Lightning's first fight of 2008, I'll definitely be taking a look at it here.
