Tales of the Tape: Playoff Edition! vs. Ottawa Senators 4/9/08

What a first game Pittsburgh had against the Senators!  It was a good day for Pens fans, and to make it even better, we were all treated to a thrashing.  I've been MIA for a little while, so let's see if I remember how to do this.

Towards the end of the 2nd period (16:35), Dean McAmmond got rough with Sidney Crosby and even pushed him down without his stick.  Crosby popped right back up and kept going with the play until Wade Redden decided to get a little rough, and the two traded some quick blows, but nothing (officially) considered a fight.  Crosby was pulled away from it, but Ryan Whitney stood up for his captain and pounded Redden into the ice.  Seriously, it was awesome.

A lot of penalties handed out because of this one, but Redden/Whitney was the only official fight.

Ryan Whitney - Playoffs, 1 fight (1-0-0)

Whitney

not a guy known for his rage, but he sure unloaded on that McAmmond's face like he's been doing it for years.  Perhaps Whitney was that quiet kid who you went to school with who sat in the corner with a Slayer shirt on.  On any given day you just knew he was going to snap. You just prayed it wouldn't be against you.
