Congrats

I feel as though I could complain about the officiating in this series all day, from the bad penalty in game 1 to the quick whistle in game 2 to the double minor that the Rangers should have gotten in game 5. However the fact is that the Pens out played the Rangers, good teams overcome bad calls and the Rangers couldn't do  it. The Pens were the better team in this series plain and simple.

In the end it came down to the fact that the Rangers didn't have enough offense to compete with Malkin and the Pens.

Congrats and good luck vs. the Flyers who I really hope to see you beat.

One side note, I must say that I can't stand to see athletes get  anointed greatness before obtaining it. (see Dale Earnhardt Jr., and your own Sidney Crosby) I like Sid but he is way too hyped. Not his own fault and nothing new, but honestly I think Malkin is a better player. I just hope that he actually wins something to justify all the commercials I'm going to see him in.

Thanks

for the post-Rangers support.

I agree with you and player hype.  While Sid is definitely above average, his play in this series was hardly an impact on Pittsburgh's success.  If there weren't a language barrier with Malkin I'm sure he'd be the more hyped up player; and with good reason.

I think Crosby is just held on a pedestal in the eyes of the NHL because he was their first big marketing success in a post-lockout league.  It's not to say he's a bad player by any means, it's just that he could more or less be seen as the savior of hockey at that point and time.

Not a single Rangers fan I know is supporting the Flyers.  This is set up to be an insane series.  The more the better.

Thanks for your Rangers insight in this series, and I hope to see ya around for the rest of the run.

Flyers

I would rather pluck out my own eyes then root for the Flyers.

I'll be around to hear your curses in the off-season when the Rangers throw big money at Hossa. (Not saying they will sign him, but drive up his price a bit at the very least.) I know you aren't thinking that far ahead, but I am (now anyway).

Hossa

I just can't see New York getting him.  But that is all relative to Jagr's status.  He leaves and they'll need a replacement.  Hossa is as good as they come on the free agent block this summer.  Besides, maybe the Pens and Rangers can relive the glory days of the 90s and early 2000s when they traded guys back and forth like baseball cards.

I don't know about that

It seemed as though every time the Rangers sent a player to the Pens, said player turned good (see Petr Neved) then when the Rangers got him back he would continue sucking.

If Jagr can play half of next years games like he did in this series, I say "c'mon back big fella." However if he plays as listless as he did most of last year I say "have fun in Europe."

Hossa would be a fine replacement, and I have a feeling that Sathes will be thinking along the same lines.

Of course...

Jagr could go back to his 2005/2006 season and really blow everyone away, but I think it's safe to say those days may be far behind him.

Hossa is definitely in the crosshairs of NY.  I don't even know any other big name that would be available and/or comparable to Hossa.

Kudos

Keep it up and you may be placed on the payroll as a residential Pensburgh hockey expert.

Currently we are operating with a tight budget, so payment will be made in the form of high fives.

hey

I guess high fives are better then butt pats.

haha

no butt pats here.  You'd have to go to a Flyers blog for that.

Or, if you want a little more, find an Islanders blog...if you're into that kind of thing.

haha
j/k

I know you don't want to hear this now

But It looks like you should enjoy seeing Hossa in Black and Gold while you can.

By the way...

keep slapping those Flyers around

you know we will

As for Hossa - well, at least it's still sorta black and gold.  Part of the reason why I thought NHL.com would let you rent out Hossa jerseys for this season instead of straight-up purchase them.
