Pens Take a Day Off, Conks Gets Some Hardware

Following yesterday's loss to the Panthers, the Pens were probably better off just avoiding the ice altogether.  Jordan Staal, a little dinged up from the Tampa game on Tuesday can rest his ribs, Sid can rest his ankle and the rest of the team can sit around and figure out what went wrong against Florida and figure out how to change it.  If I had to guess, I wouldn't doubt Therrien is going to give a rigorous practice tomorrow morning.

Adding to his Pittsburgh-era resume, Ty Conklin pulled in some hardware this week.  The Tribune-Review has more:

Goaltender Ty Conklin was nominated by the Pittsburgh chapter of the Professional Hockey Writers Association as the Penguins' nominee for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy - awarded to the NHL player who best exemplifies qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey.

Now all he has to do is help bring back the Cup and all is well in the world.

Dunman also did what he does best with his newest addition to the ongoing season-long saga "Tales of the Tape."  Check out Georges Laraque vs Wade Belak here.

Jason from Bleeding Green Nation (I know - it's a Philly blog, but it's the Eagles so it semi-OK) also submitted a Riley Cote vs Derek Roy double-feature.  Watching these fights helps you realize why the Pens got rid of Roy in the first place.

I'd also like to extend a welcome to Pensburgh's newest member Dayna.  She joins us from The Offseason Blog, so be sure to check it out.  (Personally, my favorite recent post of hers is right here.)

That's it for now.  If you hear anything going on during this quiet day, shoot it this way.
