Let's not get too carried away.  It is only preseason.  But man, what a welcome site.

For those of you who were not around Pensburgh last season, welcome again.  The purpose of an open thread is to join up and talk about the game while it's on.  I don't know how many people will be watching this preseason game, but the option to talk it up is here should you want to.  I for one will have to catch up on it later tonight/early tomorrow.

Roster for tonight is available if you click "read more."  Didn't want to list it and take up the whole front page.

Thanks to SteelCityKid for keeping us up to date on the roster cuts.  Luca Caputi, Joe Haddad, Dustin Jeffrey, Nick Johnson, Mark Letestu and defenseman Jonathan D’Aversa were all sent back down to WBS.  That doesn't necessarily mean they won't see preseason play, but it does mean the chances are not entirely in their favor right now.  I, like many I'm sure, am a little surprised at Caputi.  When you consider the hype around his name, it leaves a bit of the "well, what happened?" factor to it.  But I guess the coaches saw something we didn't.  And by that I mean, they saw nothing that impressed them.

Keep an eye on Janne Pesonen tonight, as he makes his debut at Mellon Arena, as well as Alex Goligoski return to the blue line.

Keep in mind this is preseason hockey and the lineups can change in the blink of save.

The Penguins lineup for the game.  Your guess on lines is as good as any.
