RANGERS BLOG: BLUE SHIRT BANTER

Welcome all to the 2009/10 NHL Season here at Pensburgh, where tonight we'll enjoy some banner raising.

I imagine you were all tuned in for the games on TV last night, and, if you weren't, you missed a nice moment for this guy. Considering Joe Sakic and the Avs were a big factor in me really being a fan of hockey when I was a kid, I thought that was a special moment, as well as the other nuances they rolled out for opening night. My cheers go to Sakic, and the Avs for capping that special night off with a win.

Still, it didn't seem too long ago that I watched this and shouted my head off, and that was just Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals. Tonight, we still celebrate last year's Stanley Cup, and set up for another run.

As mentioned this morning, tonight's lineup isn't too far off from what we're use to. Meanwhile, the Rangers have moved pieces around in the offseason, such as their most consistent player and a poor man's Derek Boogaard for example. Still, a team with Henrik Lundqvist in net can present a challenge. Just need to hope he's rustier than we may be, given the opening few games aren't exactly what we see come playoff season.

To all PensBurghers, cheers, and let's have another fantastic season.
