The awards and accolades roll in all the time for Sidney Crosby and he's back at it again; being named by the Canadian Press the Male Athlete of the year. TSN points out something that's really cool though:
Only 12 hockey players have won the Lionel Conacher Award since it was established in 1932 and just six of those men have received it more than once. Crosby joins multiple-time winners Maurice (Rocket) Richard, Bobby Hull, Phil Esposito, Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux.
Richard, Hull, Esposito, Gretzky, Lemieux and now Crosby. He's starting to join legendary names of old in a lot of ways, and this is just another example of the greatness we're witnessing.
Of course me and my Yank friends should not confuse the Lionel Conacher Award with the Lou Marsh Award (overall Canadian athlete of the year) which Crosby also won a couple of weeks ago for the second time.
