Penguins vs Devils coverage - In Lou We Trust
The Pittsburgh Penguins have now scored 2 goals in 4 games against Martin Brodeur and the New Jersey Devils.
The only goal tonight was scored on an innocent shot by Nicklas Bergfors, a guy who has 4 goals in 4 games versus Pittsburgh and 8 in 33 games against the rest of the league.
Brent Johnson played well, he stopped 31 of 32 shots and hung in there. Hard to fault him when he was just one blemish away from matching Brodeur.
- Sidney Crosby won 55% of his faceoffs (12 of 22) but the rest of the team won just 10 of 18.
- Ruslan Fedotenko attempted 5 shots on goal (getting 3 on net). He didn't show an extra hop in his step, but he was trying to put the puck on the net more, which is usually a good sign for his game.
- David Clarkson made his return from a broken leg/ankle but left the game early after Chris Kunitz drilled him cleanly in the open ice.
- Again though the Penguins just couldn't get over the hump and put one by Brodeur.
Apologies for the boring recap, but it was a boring game and a way to go out on a whimper on what otherwise was a tremendous 2009.
