NOTES
It will be interesting to see what the lines look like tonight, particularly the power play, with both Ryan Whitney (family emergency) and Sidney Crosby (groin) out of the lineup. Don't be surprised if Evgeni Malkin and Petr Sykora pull double duty. Jordan Staal may even make an appearance as a line-two center. GASP.
In Whitney's absence, Kris Letang gets his first start in three games. Time for him to prove something to everyone (and himself).
Under normal circumstances it may seem like a decent game, if any, for Crosby and Whitney to miss. But given the Islanders' 3-2 shootout win over the Pens last Monday, nothing is a win until the final horn deafens the ear drums. That's just about as close to a motto for the Penguins this season as any.
Marc-Andre Fleury is confirmed as the starter for the Penguins tonight. ("He's our numbers one," said Bylsma earlier today)
Yann Denis is the rumored starter for the Islanders.
