Penguins will know their opponent by midnight

Barring endless overtimes that carry either game into the early morning, it looks like we'll have an idea who the Pens are playing in the second round by 11:00 or so.

Rangers vs. Capitals - 7:00 [Blueshirt Banter - Japers' Rink]

The Capitals will look to extend their run past the first round with a win tonight.  At one point the Rangers held a 3-1 series lead, but Washington quickly cut that down with the promotion of goaltender Simeon Varlamov.  It's been a chippy series full of highlight goals and suspensions (John Tortarella, Donald Brashear), but it would seem the Caps have the upper hand as they head back to home ice tonight to finish off NY.

Devils vs. Canes - 7:30 [In Lou We Trust - Canes Country]

A lot of people are saying this series is all about the goaltending. That's about as accurate an assessment as you can make.  Marty Brodeur posted a 44-save shutout in game five in the wake of allowing a questionable goal with .2 seconds remaining in Game 4.  Cam Ward responded with 41 saves of his own, but it was the lone goal that slipped past that ultimately stood as the decision maker in a 1-0 loss.

I plan on flipping between the two tonight to get a better idea of who the Pens may have in round two.  If you're watching and wanna toss in your two cents, I'm sure the blogs up top wouldn't mind the casual visit.
