It took almost 80 minutes of hockey for the Carolina Hurricanes to beat the Boston Bruins but thanks to a clutch goal from Scott Walker (his first goal of the playoffs) the Penguins will have home ice for the Eastern Conference Championship.
Boston put up a good fight but Carolina were pressing endlessly on Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas. Both he and Cam Ward played unbelievable games but in the end it was Carolina's offense that got the better of Boston's defense.
So prepare yourself for the next 7-10 days where you'll undoubtedly see more Staal vs. Staal headlines than you ever thought possible. Also be sure to familiarize yourself with the Canes and their fanbase over at Canes Country.
Oh and in case you missed it Detroit has once against advanced in the West. Anaheim came within three minutes of sending a 3-3 game to overtime before Detroit's Dan Cleary slipped a weird goal past Anaheim's Jonas Hiller to seal the deal.
