The Calgary Flames selected defenseman Tim Erixon with their 23rd pick in the 2009 NHL Draft. He probably won't light up the boards as an offensive guy but everything I've read about him has him pinned as a solid defensive guy. His pops Jan Erixon played at the NHL level and it shouldn't pan out any different for Tim if all goes well over the next year or two. Matchsticks and Gasoline has more.
WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING
Erixon has an offensive bent to his game, but hasn't put it on display often for scouts when he plays in the Swedish League. In fact, many scouts see him as an unspectacular, but effective blueliner. The Hockey News
He is a smart player who seems to be well schooled in the fundamentals of playing defence. His hockey sense, puck skills and poise are all good, which allows Erixon to make consistent, safe plays in all areas of the ice.Shane Malloy
Erixon is a smooth-skating offensive defenseman. He's not flashy, but ends up with points on the board at the end of the night.
