On one hand it seems like the Penguins just won the Cup yesterday and not over two months ago...On the other hand training camps will be in full swing in one month's time and that seems -- paradoxically -- too soon and right around the corner as well as an eternity away.  Here's the best of the meager news that's going around right now:

  • Dan Bylsma recently had his day with the Stanley Cup. [Hockey Hall of Fame]
  • No matter what month it is, it's always time to poke fun at the Washington Capitals. [tPb]
  • Tampa Bay's ownership saga continues.  NHL ownership surely are some choppy seas  [From The Rink]
  • I'm not saying Ernie McLean is tough, but I am saying that he's one of three human beings that's earned Gary Roberts' respect. [Puck Daddy]
  • DirecTV is not going to carry the Versus network anymore after the two sides had a dispute over rates to be charged.  This doesn't bode well for the NHL, and if you have DirecTV the Penguins are playing 8 games on Versus next season so be advised now. [LA Times]
  • Team rosters for Canada's Red and White Olympic camp.  All the Penguins are on Team White.  The two most rumored linemates for Sidney Crosby (Jarome Iginla and Rick Nash) are also on Team White. [CTVOlympics]
  • A set of summer power rankings. [Pens Universe]
  • Someone should tell the pre-lockout CBA NY Rangers that you CAN buy a Stanley Cup ring.  (Just one though) [eBay via Sean Leahy's twitter]
  • Keeping an eye on those Flyers, they're going to start youngster Claude Giroux as center, which means Danny Briere is going to be a winger. [Broad Street Hockey]
  • Has Dany Heatley tarnished his reputation forever with his conduct recently? [ESPN]
  • Ten potential future franchise players around the NHL. [The Hockey News]
