Nick Petersen is still a "kid," but this past season he played alongside fellow "kid" and 2009 Penguins first-round pick Simon Despres with the Saint John Sea Dogs. How'd Petersen do? Pretty good, actually; 39 goals and 40 assists over 59 games for a total of 79 points.
In an interview earlier in the season with Pensburgh, Petersen compared his style of play to that of Anaheim's Corey Perry.
In any case, Petersen likes to shoot, skates hard and has a knack of finding the open man. I think down the road we'll start to hear more about him as he goes up through the Pittsburgh rankings. And at least we known that, should Despres follow him through the farm, that there is an already-existing chemistry there between the two.
