WBS Completes Comeback Over Admirals, Back in Action Today

Six minutes into the second period and down 2-0 Saturday night, John Curry was pulled in favor of Brad Thiessen. Curry had stopped 8 of 10 shots and wasn’t playing his best but certainly not his worst.  The Pens rode Thiessen for big saves and outshot the Admirals 11-5 in the third, scoring two goals in the final five minutes to force the extra session. Robert Bortuzzo blasted a point shot past Dustin Tokarski on the powerplay and Ben Street found a way to sneak the puck in the net  less than two minutes later.

This game went to a shootout and it seemed like this game would never again. The Admirals matched the Penguins’ first ten shooters, scoring every round the Penguins did (2,3,5,10). The Penguins put their miraculous comeback to reality when Joey Haddad scored in the 11th round of the shootout and Thiessen denied Troy Milam....

The WBS Penguins are back in action today at 3 p.m. at home against the Springfield Falcons, who are in their fifth game in six days.  You can follow the action here or you could follow the action on my Twitter page.

 

UPDATE(1): WBS up 2-1 after 1st period. Goals from Zach Sill and Ryan Craig. Pens out shot Falcons 18-5 after 20 minutes.

UPDATE(2) Tied at three after 2nd period. Tim Wallace added a shorthanded goal from Potter. Shots are 25-13 Pens.

UPDATE(3): Brett Sterling's second goal of the game broke a 4-4 tie with 1:11 left. PENS WIN 5-4!
