Another busy day in Penguin world, still buzzing over Brent Johnson's fight and probably will be for days to come.
``Brooks Orpik and Kris Letang both weren't on the ice today, but no biggie. They just played big minutes in back-to-back nights and were excused. Dan Bylsma expects both to be back on the ice tomorrow.
``Mike Rupp was also not practicing but is expected back tomorrow as well. Arron Asham has suffered approximately his 53rd "upper body injury" and will again be "day-to-day" so who knows when the next time he'll be back in the lineup.
``Lots of love for Johnson's destruction of Rick DiPietro- the Islander goalie went x-ray's last night, coming up negative (which is a positive). DiPietro still is seeing docs again today to make sure he didn't hurt his face on Johnny's left hand.
``Unfortunate news for Mark Letestu- the rookie center's MRI revealed damage in his knee enough to cause surgery. Letestu got caught in a rut, a freak warmup accident in Madison Square Garden, an arena long known for less than ideal ice surfaces. Letestu is expected to miss 4-6 weeks.
``On the heels of that last note, enjoy your stay in the big leagues Dustin Jeffrey. Looks like Jeffrey gets a well-deserved break from making that all to fimiliar cross-state trip back to Wilkes-Barre (unfortunate circumstances aside).
``Sidney Crosby has traveled to visit his parents, which doesn't sound very good. But don't read too much into it, Crosby can still workout off-ice (assuming he's fit too), but as of right now there truly is no timetable for his return to the lineup.
``Finally, some good news: Bylsma announced Evgeni Malkin will be back in the lineup tomorrow night versus Buffalo. Malkin's been out since the Detroit game on Jan 18th, but even in that game he only played 15 minutes and didn't look himself. A nagging knee injury has seemed to effect him all season long, hopefully the two week hiatus has done him well.
``Also, programming note that Kris Letang joins Wysh and Rob Pizzo on Puck Daddy Radio today, so stream it live or you can catch it on iTunes. Should be interesting to hear what Letang will have to say about his all-star experience as well as his reaction to Big Johnson 2K11.
