Matt Cooke Will Face Disciplinary Hearing for Hit on Fedor Tyutin

Can't say we didn't see this one coming.

According to the Post-Gazette:

Penguins winger Matt Cooke has a phone disciplinary hearing with the NHL today in the aftermath of Cooke's hit last night on Columbus defenseman Fedor Tyutin.

The league could suspend or fine Cooke or rule that the major charging penalty he was assessed at the time sufficed. That ruling is expected to come later today.

The bold was my emphasis, not the paper's.

The hit wasn't pretty.  It's definitely sparked a number of comments and healthy debates here on the site.  I wonder how much of this has to do with the specific hit on Tyutin though as opposed to consecutive games in which he's been highlighted for his not-so-savvy demeanor.  I'd imagine it's a little bit of both in the end, and I'm sure the Alex Ovechkin incident will at least be mentioned on the phone.  Man, to be a fly on the wall during that call...

Looks like we'll have a ruling at some point today.
