Because regular hockey news has been sparse since July, Pittsburgh Penguins bloggers decided to take it upon themselves to make some news.
Stevie from High Heels and Hockey has put together a charity kickball tournament that should be a really good time and for a great cause. Penguin blogs have been forming teams of 10 people to compete so you can join your favorite blog's team or you can put your own team together if you wish. At this point in the game, forming your own team is your best bet. The proceeds of the tournament will be donated to a local chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, which Hockey Fights Cancer benefits.
So here's the lowdown: for $20, you can get a t-shirt (see above picture for an idea), food, and obviously you can participate in the tournament or be a spectator. There will also be other games, contests, raffles, prize baskets, and other booths throughout the afternoon. And most importantly, you get to hang out with the best fans (and writers) in the hockey blogging community! 140 have already signed up and the deadline is September 16.
For more specifics about the tournament, check out Stevie's post about the event. We hope you can come out and join us since it should be fun and it's for a cause that is near and dear to many of us.
