Gameday 6: Pens Host the Islanders

The Pittsburgh Penguins have their second home game on Tuesday when they welcome the New York Islanders.

Bruce Bennett

The Pittsburgh Penguins will host the New York Islanders tonight at Consol for the second home game of the season.

The Islanders come into the game with a record of 2-2-1 with 18 goals for and 18 goals against. In their last outing on Sunday night, NYI dropped a 5-4 decision to the Winnipeg Jets in overtime, despite a two goal Islander lead in the third period.

For New York, their top scorer so far has been John Tavares (1g, 6a). They also have 10 different players who have scored at least one goal- compared to nine for the Pens.

One big loss could be Travis Hamonic, the young talented defenseman suffered an ankle injury as is believed to be out for the game tonight. That loss will hurt NYI more than the expected loss of Pens injured defenseman Matt Niskanen. This will be the first of five matchups between the teams this season. Check back into this storystream later, we'll have a question and answer session with our SB Nation Islanders blog as well as the Isles' lines and more!
