Prospect Update - October Edition

Major Juniors

2012 1st round pick Derrick Pouliot is currently playing for the WHL Portland Winterhawks. He just recently left the Pittsburgh Penguins NHL Training Camp so he has yet to play in any games for the 2-1-0-1 Winterhawks.

2012 3rd round pick Matthew Murray is currently playing for the OHL Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. He is off to a strong start with the 2-0-0-1 SOO Greyhounds with 2 Wins, 1 Shootout Loss, a 2.27 GAA, and a .922 Sv%.

2012 4th round pick Matia Marcantuoni is currently playing for the OHL Kitchener Rangers. He is serving as an Alternate Captain this season and currently leads the 2-1-0-0 Rangers with 4 Points and is #2 with 2 Goals in 3 games played.

2012 5th round pick Clark Seymour is currently playing for the OHL Peterborough Petes. He has just recently returned to the 3-1-0-0 Petes after attending Training Camp in both Pittsburgh and WBS so he has yet to play a game. He may wind up resuming a leadership role with the team as he served as an Alternate Captain last season.

2013 2nd round pick Tristan Jarry is currently playing for the WHL Edmonton Oil Kings. So far he has had a pretty rough start with the 2-2-0-0 Oil Kings with 2 Wins, 2 Losses, a 4.10 GAA, and a .856 Sv% in 4 starts.

2013 undrafted free agent Jean-Sebastien Dea is currently playing for the QMJHL Rouyn-Noranda Huskies. He is serving as an Alternate Captain this season and has scored 4 Goals in 5 games for the 3-3-1-0 Huskies, which is good enough to make him #2 in Goals but merely #8 in Points on the team. He has, however, won an impressive 70 of 112 faceoffs for 62.5%.

Europe

2008 5th round pick Alexander Pechurski is currently playing for the KHL Metallurg Magnitogorsk. He is serving as the backup goaltender in the adult league this year and currently has 1 Win, 1 Loss, a 2.26 GAA, and a .875 Sv% for the 6-1-0-3 Magnitogorsk.

2012 3rd round pick Oskar Sundqvist is currently playing for the SHL Skellefteå AIK. He is playing in the adult league this year and currently has no Points, but 6 Hits, in his 7 games played for the 4-1-1-1 Skellefteå.

NCAA

2010 3rd round pick Bryan Rust is currently attending the University of Notre Dame and serving as an Alternate Captain. Their hockey season kicks off with an exhibition match on Sunday October 6th.

2011 6th round pick Josh Archibald and 2013 3rd round pick Jake Guentzel are currently attending the University of Nebraska-Omaha. Their hockey season kicks off with an exhibition match on Monday October 7th.

2011 7th round pick Scott Wilson is currently attending the University of Massachusetts-Lowell.  Their hockey season kicks off on Saturday October 5th.

2012 2nd round pick Theodor Blueger is currently attending Minnesota State University-Mankato. Their hockey season kicks off on Sunday October 6th.

2012 4th round pick Sean Maguire is currently attending Boston University. Their hockey season kicks off with an exhibition game on Saturday October 5th.

2013 4th round pick Ryan Segalla is currently attending the University of Connecticut. Their hockey season kicks off on Friday October 18th.

2013 6th round pick Blaine Byron is currently attending the University of Maine. Their hockey season kicks off on Sunday October 6th.

2013 6th round pick Dane Birks is committed to play for Michigan Tech in 2015-16, but for now he is playing for the BCHL Merritt Centennials. He currently has 2 Assists, tied for #2 amongst D in Points, on the 4-5-0-0 Centennials.

2013 7th round pick Troy Josephs is currently playing for Clarkson University. Their hockey season kicks off on Saturday October 5th.
