Memorable Moments: Late Game Heroics

The Penguins came home to host the New York Islanders and won by a score of 4-3. The game pace was quite fitting in regard to how Pens/Islanders games have been in the past.

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sport

The Penguins and Islanders played a fast and entertaining game, as they have quite often in the last 12 months. The game appeared to be almost in hand by the Penguins with a score of 3-1, but the Islanders had other ideas, storming back to tie the game at 3-3, before Sidney Crosby and the Penguins scored late in the 3rd to take a 4-3 lead and hold on for the victory.

Early Tested Moment: Jeff Zatkoff was tested very early in the game

He stood tall to a flurry of shots.

Janitor Moment: Sidney Crosby wasn't a fan of a broken stick in his spot on the ice on the power play.

So he moved them.

Tic-Tac-Toe Moment: More pretty passing on the Penguins power play to set up a goal.

Two games in a row, ridiculous puck movement for a power play goal.

Streak Breaking Moment: Evgeni Malkin scored a goal, his first in 15 games.

Neal wouldn't allow him to pass it and made him shoot to get a goal. The Malkin-Neal bromance is great.

Robbed Moment: James Neal was robbed by Kevin Poulin on what would have been a go-ahead goal in the 3rd period.

This would prove to not be a big issue, as Crosby scored the game winner shortly thereafter.

Milestone Moment: Sidney Crosby scored late in the 3rd to take a 4-3 lead.

It was his 250th career goal. He thought it was comical that his stick was broken but he scored anyways.

Other:

Two goals from Chris Kunitz. Two goals for Thomas Vanek. Colin McDonald also scored. Craig Adams tried to to destroy Frans Nielsen's kidneys with a cross check. Poulin was very good in the 3rd, but Sidney Crosby is Sidney Crosby. Craig Adams tried to to destroy Frans Nielsen in the kidneys with a cross check.

The Penguins head to Montreal to face the Canadiens tomorrow night. I look forward to hybrid icing getting booed. Go Pens.
