Pens Points Saturday: 15 Games for Thornton, Red Wings Gameday

Pens visit new conference rivals, who are missing Howard and Zetterberg.

So, it's been a while since the Pens and the Red Wings played a meaningful game. Due to the lockout and the abbreviated 2012-13 season schedule being limited to intra-conference games only, the last time the Pens played the Wings in a game that counts was two years ago yesterday. The Wings came to Consol and left with a 4-1 win. Today, the Pens return the visit and let's hope they are the same gracious visitors the Wings were two years ago.

Here's a preview of tonight's game from PPG, and here's your official preview from the Penguins.

This video of Flower and Duper playing Twister would be the funniest thing I've ever seen were they not attempting to speak French interspersed with English. Really, there's no French word for boys? I swear Canadian French is more painful than Swiss German. I had to mute it 30 seconds in.

Check this out: Michael Bay remakes Miracle On Ice with a skating helicopter. This is INCREDIBLE. They wouldn't find me anywhere near that helicopter.

In other news around the NHL, Steven Stamkos is back on skates one month after breaking his tibia in what was feared to be the end of his Olympic dream. Now, he still has TWO MONTHS left before Canada plays their first game. All hail the Stammer.

The Oilers have traded goaltender Jason LaBarbera to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for future considerations, and activated Ilya Bryzgalov from the injured reserve.

I bet the Maple Leafs are feeling that the David Clarkson signing was such great value for the money. He now has 2 goals and 2 suspensions on the season, keeping him on pace for 6 goals, 18 points and 28 games lost to suspensions.

Still no news on the Thornton suspension. Seriously Shanny, Congress doesn't take this long. Just FYI, he's never suspended anyone for more than 10 games in the regular season, and Sid himself tempered the expectations saying it'll be around 10.

Let's go Pens! I hope Sid costs me money tonight. Go get 'em kid.

OVERTIME

So, 15 games for Thornton. Not enough in my opinion. Discuss.
