We all know that Duper's injury, sustained Monday night in Ottawa, was likely serious, but today Dan Bylsma confirmed our worst fears and said that Dupuis is going to have surgery in about 2 weeks (when swelling has subsided) for ACL repair and will likely be out for the remainder of the season, although they will have a more exact timetable after the surgery.
So that's that. Per Bylsma, Joe Vitale and James Neal will see some time alongside Chris Kunitz and Sidney Crosby on the top line tonight. Harry Zolnierczyk was re-called from WBS again. Brooks Orpik and Tanner Glass were taken off the IR, although only Orpik will be back in the lineup tonight.
As you can well imagine, Twitterverse is currently busy acquiring Crosby's right winger. Literally everyone is in play, from Jarome Iginla to Jaromir Jagr to Kris Letang being moved to wing. The laughs at least partially lifted my depression over what is definitely a serious loss for the Pens top line and PK.
The Pens play in Carolina tonight. Hurricanes' Jiri Tlusty will miss 2-3 weeks after undergoing an appendectomy, and our buddy Zach Boychuk will get a spot tonight. Here's the Penguins gameday report.
Flower will start in goal tonight, and it's a milestone event for him - career game #500. His record is 270-160-42. The list of goalies with 300 wins is a short one, with only 28 names on it, and the last to do it was Tomas Vokoun on April 22.
