Zach Boychuk claimed on waivers, Tom Kostopoulous signed for WB/S, Beau Bennett back in Pittsburgh

Some housekeeping news and notes for the Penguins- Zach Boychuk is gone, Beau Bennett is back (even though he never really left) and Tom Kostopolous gets a real contract.

Zach Boychuk, we hardly knew ye.

Well, I guess we did get to know you, in your seven games with the Pittsburgh Penguins you got primo minutes with Evgeni Malkin and James Neal and pitched in 0 goals and 0 assists. That math doesn't add up, so it was out the door.

Boychuk was claimed off of waivers by the Nashville Predators, who are dead last in the NHL in goals per game (1.96) so Boychuk should fit right in with a team that isn't able to score either.

The Penguins also announced they "re-called" Beau Bennett, who was technically sent down to the minors yesterday, a paper move to allow the team to be under 23 skaters since Boychuk technically counted on the team until noon today when he was officially claimed. Long story short: Beau is back, and according to Dave Molinari of the PG, it looks like Bennett might get a shot at the 2nd line minutes with Malkin and Neal.

Finally, the Penguins signed forward Tom Kostopoulos to a one-year, two-way contract for the rest of this season. Kostopoulos had been with the Baby Pens for the last 17 games (3 goals, 4 assists) on a professional tryout contract and is expected to remain there. But with the way some of the bottom line wingers are playing (cough Tyler Kennedy, Tanner Glass cough cough) it will be interesting to see if Pittsburgh is ever interested in calling up the "original" TK, who has a lot of experience in the NHL.
