Stat of the day: Malkin gets to 500

Evgeni Malkin joins a club of 14 other players who have pulled on a Pittsburgh Penguin jersey 500 times

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sport

500- last night marked the 500th career NHL game for Evgeni Malkin, all with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Malkin joins 14 other skaters who've played that many games, they are:

Mario Lemieux, Jaromir Jagr, Jean Pronovost, Rick Kehoe, Brooks Orpik, Ron Stackhouse, Ron Schock, Dave Burrows, Bob Errey, Martin Straka, Ron Francis, Troy Loney, Sidney Crosby and Kevin Stevens,

Malkin has 611 points in those 500 games, good for 6th best as a Penguin- and he's only 2 points back of Francis for 5th place and 25 points behind Kehoe for 4th, making it a good bet that he'll soon be behind only Lemieux, Jagr and Crosby in franchise history in scoring.
