Penguins vs. Leafs: GIFs of the Game

The Penguins traveled North of the border to the Air Canada Centre to take on the Toronto Maple Leafs and escaped with a victory, winning by a score of 5-2.

  • Patric Hornqvist opened the scoring again, this time, following a shift in which Nick Spaling, Zach Sill, and Craig Adams cycled the puck several times. During the cycle, Hornqvist was able to come onto the ice, and put a rebounded shot from Christian Ehrhoff past Jonathan Bernier to make the score 1-0.

  • Kris Letang and Sidney Crosby were able to hook up for a goal on the power play. Was this a designed play by Letang? You be the judge.

  • Evgeni Malkin was able to score his first goal of the season. The Penguins power play struck again and has potential to be lethal and deadly. Kris Letang and Malkin passed the puck back and forth a little bit, before Malkin scored with help from a Chris Kunitz screen.

  • In the closing minute of the game, Simon Despres and James van Riemsdyk decided to drop the gloves. The fight itself wasn't really a fight and it was pretty uneventful. Despres did go for the cheap shot method and got a couple shots in once JVR was on the ground. Not something I'm particularly a fan of. No harm, no foul though.
